I have climbed and walked in the UK hills for nearly 40 years, hold the Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor award [formerly the Mountaineering Instructor Award] - the highest Summer Climbing certificate in the country and am a member of AMI, the Association of Mountaineering Instructors.

BMC Participation Statement
The British Mountaineering Council issues the following Participation Statement that all those undertaking Walking, Climbing and Mountaineering activities should read, understand and accept.
"The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions"
